Welcome to the Sydney Perioperative Transoesophageal Echocardiography website. This course is aimed at Anaesthetic Trainees and Fellows undertaking Cardiac Anaesthesia Fellowships who wish to become proficient in perioperative TOE with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practice of echocardiography. It is also aimed at consultant cardiac anaesthetists wishing to certify or re-certify with the American PTE exam.
The course has been designed to complement and coincide with the American National Board of Echocardiography Perioperative TOE exam (Advanced PTeEXAM), and is based on that syllabus. The course for 2025 will run over two weekends in May 2025, prior to the NBE exam in July.
The course will be held at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown, Sydney.
Participation in the course via Zoom will be available.
The faculty of presenters, with TOE qualifications and extensive clinical expertise, is drawn from the major Sydney teaching hospitals, and lectures will be focussed on the exam syllabus with the extensive use of echo loops, to help prepare for the exam.
Course fees have been priced very reasonably for trainees, fellows and consultants.
